In-Store Sensor Catalog
Our in-store sensor catalog enables brands, marketers, and researchers to obtain unique consumer insights and make data driven decisions for advertising and analytics.
Our exclusive dataset includes a large network of 6 million in-store sensors deployed in retail, restaurant, and hospitality venues. We analyze this data to provide a unique perspective on how consumers are connected to physical places.

HOW IT WORKS
Sensor Detection and Catalog Creation
We use a Software Development Kit (SDK) to detect new nearby in-store sensors (Bluetooth beacons) and to pinpoint each beacon’s real world position. Mobile app publishers integrate the SDK to assist in the detection of new in-store sensors.
After being detected by the SDK, new sensors are registered into our catalog with corresponding contextual attributes such as geolocation coordinates, store names, dwell time, etc…
This data set is continually being regenerated and optimized through the use of machine learning that builds upon a proprietary training set of thousands of sensors (Bluetooth beacons) manually deployed by AreaMetrics. As our data set grows, so does the robustness and accuracy of our in-store catalog.
How the Sensors Generate Analytics
Mobile app publishers implement our transparent code snippet to help us detect visitations to specific businesses. As the app’s users visit businesses with sensors that we’ve already catalogued, the snippet automatically captures shopper insights.
The snippet is privacy centric as it does not require the collection of GPS coordinates and only collects data while consumers are out in the community.

Our In-Store Sensor Network Includes Top Retailers and Brands

The Benefits of In-Store Sensor Data
-
The use of in-store sensors is the most privacy centric way to collect user shopping trends as data is only collected when the user is out in the community -
In-store sensor data is much more precise and accurate than traditional GPS signals (which often bounce off of nearby buildings, resulting in inaccuracies) -
In-store sensors can be detected within a matter of seconds of a consumer entering a store, which powers unique real-time capabilities
